Singer-songwriter Sonia Eidse makes mellow alt-pop, with an intention to invoke the mysticism of love and romance. Often subtle and instrumentally bare, her sound carries a feeling of wistful optimism.
From Winnipeg, Manitoba, Eidse grew up singing along to Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald and Roberta Flack, though it was writing and creating that she enjoyed doing most. In 2012, after releasing online her first independently recorded and produced EP entitled Acoustic, Vol. I & II, this talented though unassuming songstress gigged at local cafes, bookstores and open mics, acclimating herself to the spotlight. Some of her performance highlights are Manitoba’s Fire and Water Festival, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, and Aboriginal Music Week.
After taking a short hiatus to be a new mother, Eidse released in November her first commercial, self-titled EP.
